A few facts about Slates:

  • Slates are a new way for creating an unlimited amount of editorial content on a web page in a very small space.
  • Slates can contain the same content that a normal web page uses. This includes text, images, links to other files, etc. If you can think of it you can use a slate to present it.
  • Existing Slates can be updated on the fly.
  • New Slates can be added to the same area.
  • Slates are initially displayed as text links, so you can create a large list in a small space. Using Slates, school administrators can create an index of all their faculty and departments. Teachers then have the opportunity to easily create lesson plans or special messages for their students.
  • Slates come with the option for email notification when the Slate is updated or changed. This is all handled transparently so the teacher only has to work on their content and not administrative duties. The student doesn’t have to check the web site until he receives a notice to do so.
  • Using Slates, school administrators have the ability to easily post daily messages, a schedule of events, update calendars,  news, or athletic team results. All this can be accomplished within minutes instead of the lengthy turnaround time of traditional web site updating.
