Typing and Placing Text on your Page
Problems with using Microsoft Word
Summary: Sometimes copying and pasting content from Microsoft Word can leave you with strange tags and bits of code that change the formatting of the content. However there are ways of avoiding these problems.
Pasted Word documents embed a lot of style, css and xml code in the page area which different browsers handle differently. In most cases, FireFox is able to deal with it, but Internet Explorer usually is not. Additionally you will find that our editor tools can not over ride some of the code that Word inserts, so after it's pasted, you may not be able to style it, change sizes, etc. In face, attempting to do so often adds even more code to the page, compounding the problem.

We recommend that if you've created something in Word that you want to copy and paste in the page, you first save it as a plain text document, or copy and paste the content into a plain text editor like Note Pad or Text Edit and then copy it from the text editor and paste it into the page. Of course, the best process, is to type it directly into the page using our editor, and then style it using our tools.
