Typing and Placing Text on your Page
Copying and Pasting Content from Microsoft Word
Sometimes copying and pasting content from Microsoft Word can leave you with strange tags and bits of code that change the formatting of the content. However there are ways of avoiding these problems.

Pasted Word documents embed a lot of style, css and xml code in the page area which different browsers handle differently. In most cases, FireFox is able to deal with it, but Internet Explorer usually is not. Additionally you will find that our editor tools can not over ride some of the code that Word inserts, so after it's pasted, you may not be able to style it, change sizes, etc. In fact, attempting to do so often adds even more code to the page, compounding the problem.

We recommend that if you've created something in Word that you want to copy and paste in the page, you first save it as a plain text document, or copy and paste the content into a plain text editor like Note Pad or Text Edit and then copy it from the text editor and paste it into the page. Of course, for the best results, type directly into the page using our editor, and then style using our tools.

1)  Open your Word document.

2)  Highlight desired text &
select "Copy" from the Word "Edit" menu to copy the selected text

** If the text that you have pasted appears to have unwanted formatting or you are unable to further style the content using the editor toolbar, try using the "Cleaner" tool.

We have included a special tool in the tool bar Picture_19.png that may help strip out some of the unwanted code pasted from outside sources like MS Word. Be aware that the tool will often remove all of the formatting from the pasted content including type styles, sizes, alignment and table structure. It's always a good idea to select all and copy your content prior to using the word cleaner tool, in the event it does not produce the desired result.

1)  Highlight the new text in the Editor box.

2)  Click the Picture_19.png Word Cleaner tool.

3)  Save your changes Picture_8.png
